Main Article Content
Abstract
This study discusses "Analysis of Potential Development of the Pelang Wonocoyo Tourism Area as a Geotourism Object in Panggul District, Trenggalek, East Java". In the research area there are five geological landscape objects that have the potential to become geotourism destinations, such as: sea arches, beaches, waterfalls, caves, and cliffs within one tourism area. The purpose of this study is to analyze the value of the geological uniqueness of each geosite in Pelang tourism, also to analyze the potential and feasibility of Pelang tourism as a geotourism destination. The methods used in this research include four types, such as: remote sensing, interview surveys and questionnaires, scoring, and spot sampling. In the study area there are four constituent formations, such as: Alluvium (Qa), Wonosari Formation (Tmwl), Oyo Formation (Tmo), and Mandalika Formation (Tomm). In the study area there are five types of geomorphology, such as: karst plateaus, karst hills, ridge fault zones, alluvial plains, and coastal plains. In the research area (especially the area of interest) there is a geological history in the form of sea flooding during the early Miocene to sea decline during the late Miocene to Pliocene so that the karst plateau experienced uplift caused by a decrease in sea level, then during the Pleistocene there were glacial-interglacial periods. resulting in continued sea shrinkage and the formation of fluvial systems, as well as the formation of cliff cavities due to dissolving activity triggered by interactions between carbonate compounds and water, then during the Holocene epoch formation of beaches occurred from accumulation of sediment deposits that had accumulated in one place. In the study area, the majority of land uses are teak, pine, and sengon forests. In the research area there is biodiversity in the form of: white egrets, and turtles, as well as cultural diversity in the form of: wayang and jaranan. Pelang Tourism received a positive response from residents, managers, and the Trenggalek Tourism Office to develop it into a geological heritage through interviews and questionnaire surveys. Pelang Tourism also has a geoheritage feasibility value of 58.68% so that it can be categorized as "deserved to be developed" as a geotourism destination.
